Who Is A Candidate For Cheek Augmentation?

Genetics, natural aging, and weight loss all contribute to volume loss in the cheeks, resulting in a gaunt or sunken appearance. Cheek augmentation provides a way to restore this volume for a fuller and more youthful look. Ideal candidates have specific goals in mind for their appearance and realistic expectations when it comes to results. Patients should be in good physical health and not smoke cigarettes, as this can complicate the recovery process. Plastic Surgery Group of Atlanta can perform a thorough assessment to determine your candidacy for treatment.

Surgical Technique

During cheek augmentation surgery, an implant is inserted through an incision made in the upper lip. Cheek implants come in many different sizes, shapes and materials. The implant chosen will determine the size of the incision. A pocket is made through the incision directly over the cheekbone and the implant is inserted. The incision is then closed with either absorbable sutures or stitches that will be removed within 1-2 weeks following surgery.

During/After Surgery

Cheek augmentation surgery is performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure in an accredited surgical facility. The procedure usually takes just under an hour to complete. Following surgery, the outcome is immediately noticeable. There will be swelling, which could last several months. There may also be localized discoloration, numbness or discomfort. Most patients are able to return to work after a full week. However, exercise should be avoided for at least 3-4 weeks.

Cheek Implant FAQs

“Wow! Incredible! I would recommend Dr Hart without any hesitation. I had fat grafting and at 55 yrs old I needed volume in my cheeks. The results were so much better than I expected. I was nervous the day of the surgery but once I got comfortable I relaxed and was taken care of in the best way. Bring your own music and sit back and chill out for an easy day and a fast recovery. When I look at myself I feel younger and refreshed. Thank you. Derek."
